SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41
(By Senators McKenzie, Bowman, Wiedebusch and Macnaughtan)
Honoring West Virginia Northern Community College on the occasion
of its twenty-fifth anniversary as an institution of higher
education.
Whereas, The Board of Regents established West Virginia
Northern Community College, on July 1, 1972, to serve the
northern panhandle area; and
Whereas, The college, with campuses in New Martinsville,
Weirton and Wheeling, has dedicated its resources to academic
excellence in programs of baccalaureate transfer, career- technical and community education; and
Whereas, Courses are now offered at a variety of other sites
within Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler
counties; and
Whereas, The college continues to lead the state in the use
of technology as a teaching tool; and
Whereas, The college is an active participant in numerous
partnering agreements with business and industry in its service
area; and
Whereas, Comprehensive job training and state of the art
facilities are available to help students in reaching their
maximum potential; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of West Virginia salutes West Virginia
Northern Community College, its administration, faculty, staff
and students for their dedication and commitment to providing a
quality educational experience; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the pPresident of West
Virginia Northern Community College, the cChair of the Board of
Directors of the state college system, the cChair of the Board of
Advisors of West Virginia Northern Community College and the
cChancellor of the state college system.
